Application Fields
STRUKSILON 8015 is a specifically designed silicone
surfactant for appliance application and other applications
where good flowability is required, like pipe insulation and hot
water boiler production.
Chemical and Physical Properties
According to its chemical structure STRUKSILON 8015 is a
polyether modified polydimethyl siloxane resistant to
hydrolysis.
STRUKSILON 8015 is at room temperature a clear, colourless
to slightly yellow liquid of middle viscosity. At temperatures
below 6°C solidification of
Struksilon
8015 starts, resulting in turbidity.
This turbidity does not affect the product quality or the
activity of the surfactant. It is fully reversible and is
reduced when STUKSILON 8015 is pre-blended in a polyol.

Technical Properties
STRUKSILON 8015 was
specifically designed to combine excellent flowability and
improved demould properties with very good insulation
properties. For this reason it is especially recommended for
systems used in appliance application, pipe insulation or other
applications where excellent flowablity is needed. It is mainly
focused on systems where cyclopentane or mixtures of cyclo-and
isopentane are used as a blowing agent.
Based on its extraordinary
performance, the use of STRUKSILON 8015 can result in
improved
λ-value, reduced flow factor and
reduced post expansion of the foam. It offers good miscibility
with most of the common polyol systems.
STRUKSILON 8015 could also
be used in pentane blown continuous panel production. However,
for this application we recommend our products STUKSILON
8005 and STRUKSILON 8007 which show either enhanced
emulsification or improved FR properties.
When stored at temperatures below
6°C turbidity may occur as a result of a beginning
solidification of the product. This turbidity neither has an
influence on the effectiveness of the surfactant nor are the
foam properties effected. The turbidity is fully reversible and
will vanish when the product is heated up again. Due to
solidification which goes along with an increased viscosity we
recommend to meter the product at room temperature.
Recommended Dosage
Usually, STRUKSILON 8015 is
applied in quantities of 0.5 to 1.5 php (parts on 100 parts
polyol). We recommend to adjust the optimum dosage to the
corresponding formula. However, a concentration of 3 php should
not be exceeded.
Product Safety and
Handling
STRUKSILON 8015 is not a
hazardous material for the purposes of hazardous materials
regulation.
