Our Optical Coatings has many UV curable coatings for plastics in its product portfolio. Included are: UV curable abrasion resistant coatings, reinforced UV curable coatings for enhanced adhesion and abrasion resistance in vacuum depositions, and refractive index matched abrasion resistant coatings for PET, polycarbonate and TAC films.

DLC's refractive index matched coatings can be 'tuned' to closely match the refractive index of the PET or PC substrate; thereby eliminating interference fringes that reduce the optical performance of Anti-reflective film. These index matched abrasion resistant coatings also reduce/eliminate the iridescent colors observed when traditional UV curable coatings are used as the abrasion resistant top-coating on PET overlay films. These index matched coatings/coated films are recommended for use as protective overlay films for touchscreens, as substrate for sputtered AR film, as substrate for ITO coated films and as protective overlays for membrane switches.

These coatings are haze free, are solvent resistant and resist scratching by #0000 steel wool abrasion. The coatings formulated for adhesion in Physcial Vapor Deposition  processes exhibit a pencil hardness of 3H (7-mil PET) after multi-layer anti-reflective coating depostion.
