Quantum dots are a unique class of semiconductor
particles, ranging from 2-10 nanometers (10-50 atoms) in
diameter. At these small sizes, materials behave
differently, giving quantum dots unprecedented tunability
and enabling applications to exploit unique properties at
the nanoscale.
The usefulness of quantum dots comes from their peak
emission frequency’s extreme sensitivity to both the dot’s
size and composition, which can be controlled using
Unique Technologies’ proprietary manufacturing
techniques, control over surfaces and ability to
incorporate the quantum dots in common matrix materials,
polymers and resins.
The Advantages of Core and Core-Shell Quantum Dots
Narrow Fluorescent Emission – We produce fine
spectral resolution due their narrow full width half max
(typically
<
30nm for CdSe/ZnS Quantum Dots).
Color Tunability – DLC are available in multiple
emissions from 465nm (visible) to 2300nm (infared).
Broadband Absorption
Source – DLC have a broader
absorption profi le compared to traditional organic dyes &
phosphors
Less overlap between
adjacent colors – DLC reduce
cross-talk between crystals of different colors because
each color is emitted as a narrow, symmetrical, fl uoresence peak. The peak excitation wavelength does not
overlap with emission wavelength.
